A Reflection On the Royal Wedding

Millions around the world gathered to watch Prince Harry and Meghan Markle tie the knot and their wedding did not disappoint! (Sorry girls but Prince Harry is now officially off the market) The dreamy Royal Wedding featured elaborate floral arrangements, a jaw dropping veil and some amazing musical acts. As a wedding planner it was amazing to think about the planning that must have gone into an event such as this. In this blog post I will be going over the whole day in detail. 

Let’s start with the dress         

Meghan looked stunning in a long sleeved Givenchy dress. The former Miss Markle’s style is simple, stylish yet sophisticated and so it was no surprise that she would incorporate this into her wedding dress. The boat neck dress complimented by the lace-trimmed veil was pure class and elegance and I didn’t expect anything less from the Duchess of Sussex.

Culture cocktail

Meghan brought with her traditions that might have been totally foreign to some attendees, from the gospel choir performing the 1960’s “Stand by me” to the heartfelt sermon given by Reverend Michael Curry. The Royal Wedding felt like a more personal affair than we spectators are used to and I feel as though the public really related to that.

Breaking Traditions

Aside from integrating a new culture into the service, some year old traditions were broken. Let’s start with the obvious, Meghan’s solo walk down the aisle. While traditionally the bride’s father would walk the bride down the aisle, Meghan’s could unfortunately not attend due to medical reasons. Another tradition, which the couple decided to change, was the rings. Typically only the bride would receive a wedding band in a Royal Wedding, however differing from Prince William, Harry decided he too would wear a wedding ring.

Décor

It’s safe to say the floral arrangements were AMAZING! The entrance to the chapel was decorated with a huge floral arch, which continued inside the chapel itself. The arrangements were so elaborated that no other decoration was really needed. I feel as though the simplicity behind the décor of the ceremony complimented the naturalness of this lovely couple.
